When planning our holiday, Bryce and I had decided that we wanted to have a really lovely meal at some point in the trip to celebrate my 21st birthday so after a little bit of research we discovered the incredible looking 'Clos Maggiore', in London. We booked about 2 months in advance to make sure we made it on the day we wanted and even then, by the looks of the booking website there was already a couple of dates/times that were booked out. We also mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and were hoping to make it into the conservatory which is where all the beautiful foliage and lights are (although the entire restaurant is just gorgeous) .
We dressed up in our best (okay, the best we could rustle out of the limited clothes we'd brought) and headed to Covent Garden. A Wednesday night and the whole area was still full of life, we shuffled past some form of cute little market that was going on and found the restaurant. Our table was great, tucked against the wall so it felt a little more intimate and with full view of all the lights and greenery that make this place so special. We were so pleased with the service and how everything was set out and honestly I couldn't be happier with our experience- I can't recommend it highly enough.
It is definitely more high-end price-wise (keep in mind that the prices are in pounds) but the food is amazing and the service/atmosphere are one-of-a-kind. Head to their website to see the whole menu, but I screenshotted what we ordered and included them in the photos because I'm sure the menu has described them a lot better than I could.
As the evening progressed and outside became darker, the skylight in the dining room darkened the whole room and the intimacy in the restaurant was really enhanced. The lights and greenery just made the whole thing feel so special and the little touches just made us feel very valued as customers.
We started off with some form of cheese pastries, and then some DELICIOUS bread (we had the option of a couple but Italian herb was a real standout) followed by our ordered entrée of Asparagus, then a lamb dish for our main. Then it was time for dessert and oh my goodness...the dessert. I chose a millefuille and it was DELICIOUS, seriously one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. They also did up a little 'happy birthday' plate with some petit fours for us to finish up on.
All in all, delicious food and a fantastic night!
Enjoy the photos and try not to get too much food envy ;)
